I received my Nintendo Wii for Christmas, and I have been hooked ever since! A few days ago i typed in ‘Unlock Nintendo Wii‘ into google and was immediately confused by the number of results. I wanted to share with you guys within this article my top tips, speaking from experience.

Before all this, we get into the unlocking business, I gotta tell you guys… the Wii was an absolute success over the festive season. And so it shoud be, its an expensive piece of kit, as is the games that come with it. But I can see why people buy without thought. For example ‘The Beatles Rock Band’ is absolutely amazing, and I find it hard to believe that my little 7 year old nephew knows the words to ‘Love me Do’. And the there was Mario cart! Wow, how times have changed. It was great fun playing my 5 year old niece, it was just a bit embarrassing when she beat me 9 times out of 10. My god, the youth of today. It really is amazing how they pick up a feel for technology. For example, the kids knoew how to download all the Beatles songs, whilst the parents were hopeless. My conclusion must be to play a whole lot more games me thinks, and spend alot my time in front of the Wii console. Probably not going to be very popular with the wife though.

After all, a few days prior to me attempting my Nintendo Wii Unlock mission, I didn’t have the foggiest. And I imagine neither do you readers right now! Here are my top tips.

1. Never buy and mod-chip or other hardware modification products.

I noticed quite a few rather ‘hopeful’ websites out there trying to get me to buy a mod chip, and in some cases even a game with their product. To start with, you almost need an electrical engineering degree and a soldering iron
to install these chips, and almost more importantly you will void your Wii warranty immediately once the box is opened. Moral of the story – don’t go there!

2. Always buy your software from a trusted source

As touched on briefly there are a few ‘dodgy’ websites out there I quickly learned to stay away from. Apart from my BreWii recommendations below, I would make sure that you stick with a product which is being marketed by Clickbank. These guys do not endorse crap products, plus its a bonus that you can go direct to them if you get messed around by the vendor.

2. Ensure you get what you deserve from the product!

Lots of products out there, but not sure what you need? It doesn’t make a lot of sense if you miss out on what you deserve because you didn’t do your research! As a minimum I would insist on the following, and i would pay more the $50US for it:

* The ability to play DivX Movies and DVDs
* The ability to download and play games instantly through a HomeBrew Channel
* The ability to download and use many applications
* The ability to save and then play Backup Wii Games
* The ability to play the Sega Genisis, N64 and SNES console games
